Understanding The Airtable Interface

The onset of building an interface involves a deep dive into the data of Airtable. One good look at our video content database gives you a glimpse into how we produce all of our YouTube content. This comprises a myriad of components including the content itself, social media schedule, the brands we represent, playlists published on YouTube, different calls to action incorporated in our videos, invoices, and more. All of this essentially forms the back end data schema. The inspiration behind focusing on building the back end stems from our tenet that data should be the starting point when it comes to delivering an exceptional front end experience.

Airtable Interface: The Making of Record Review

Kick-starting the process of creating an interface involves clicking on the interfaces at the top of the page. In this case, our aim was to add new interface features which led us to the Edit component. This can also serve as a guide whenever you wish to add a new interface or page.

Next up, you can choose to create a different interface entirely, because sharing an interface primarily involves sharing all the pages contained within that interface with your team.

Exploring the Record Review Interface

What makes the record review unique? Upon its selection, on the left hand side of the page, you pick a single record from a dataset. For our case, it could be a quick glance at all our published videos. Selecting them reveals an expanded, detailed view of the record on the right hand side. As part of setting up the record review interface, the user gets to choose exactly which table records to point at and set up rules to filter the data.

Grouping, organizing, and sorting data is an integral part of the process. It aids in ensuring systematic and chronological record viewing. Grouping helps in organizing the list effectively. For instance, segregating data as per day-to-day stages during the publication process streamlines the review process.

Setting Up Permissions For Record Review

Delving into permissions within the record review involves clicking on the actual element inside of the record. This reveals different functionalities on the right-hand side of the page, pertaining to the chosen field. Interestingly, the feature allows overriding according to label preferences. The text size can be adjusted as per the user's comfort, with helper texts serving as useful guides.

Based on preferred permissions, the entire group can be determined as editable. Additionally, buttons can be added to the fields that offer users a gamut of functionalities, such as updating a selected record, copying a link to a record, deleting a record, applying a template, accessing a specific interface page, accessing an external URL, accessing a URL within the record, and even running an automation.

Conclusion

Airtable's new record review interface shapes up as an efficient platform for data selection and record review. It not only eases data accessibility but also categorizes and sorts records as per preference. So, get started and explore the myriad features of Airtable's latest record review interface.
