How to Consider Averages in Airtable

Calculating Averages is an essential part of database design, but there are several options to choose from when setting up your ideal structure. How will you decide which 'type' of average to create for your database? Well, it generally starts with knowing your options, including pros and cons for each choice.

In this video, I walk through a few different ways to calculate averages inside your Airtable base. We start by outlining a simple average calculation using the 'grouping' feature in Airtable. From there, we implement a slightly more advanced option using a Rollup Field. Lastly, we consider how we might implement a weighted average calculation.

In all cases I outline the advantages and disadvantages of using each approach. Armed with this knowledge, you'll be ready to build proper averages for every scenario!
